I had the macro lens on my camera when I came across this old railroad equipment, and I couldn’t step far enough back to get a shot that showed much more than this. These gears are about four feet around, or just over a meter from one side to the other. I think it turned out nice anyways.
This photo was taken in West Virginia along the Cass railroad, a section of mountain that was logged for its red cedar to make paper.
Great composition! That’s rad!
Yeah, it did turn out really nice James. Makes me want to go outside and seek something old and rusty to take a picture of, too.
I like shooting old, rusty things.
Thanks, James.
This is awesome – I actually really like that it’s close up. Kinda looks like teeth – not that I’d want *mine* to look like that, though.
Wow, what a cool photo! It looks like a volcanic eruption to me! But teeth work…
I love the photo, and may be I’m too philosophical, but this photo makes me think over life and time…
It looks like a robot’s jaw
I don’t see Megan Fox

Oooh, I really like this one!! Even though there’s not much of it, the blue in the background contrasts nicely with the red rusty color. Very nice shot.
Didn’t recognize that it was a gear at first glance. Nicely done!
Thanks. I like getting close enough that things take on a new visual element.
Great shot James! You have a great eye for artistic images. I like many of your other images too. I hope to see more. I’m a bit of a photography nut, so I like to check out sites to see what images people take and maybe get some ideas. Yours are quite nice.
Thank you, Maya. Glad you stopped by!
For some reason this picture really caught my eye. The color and the amazing detail that the macro lens picks up stand out. This would look great blown up and on my wall.
I am beginner in photography. What i can see from your shot is great zoom. It’s so detail, even the rusty in the gears looks so clear. Is still natural or have got edited at photoshop?
