We hadn’t checked the chicken coup in a few days, and were very pleasantly surprised to find that the girls are now producing eggs!
It’s pretty exciting. Seven eggs from the crew… they’re pretty small, but I hear that’s normal for chickens when they first start laying. I can’t wait to eat them.
The eggs… not the chickens.
Unless one of them starts crowing, that is.
You seem to have answered the age-old question: you now know which came first…
Too true – we definitely started with chickens at my place. ?
Hahah, such a nice post. I felt really happy too when our chickens laid eggs when I was just a little girl. I think we feel the same way! Chickens laying eggs means that something progressive is happening and we are taking care of them properly. ?
That sounds about right, Minerva. I had chickens when I was a kid, but don’t remember caring as much then as I do now.
Totally FUN!! Seven eggs from six chickens is quite a feat… lol! You’ll might want to see if any of them float to be sure they didn’t sit out in the heat too long – not that it’s very hot there (as compared to here).
We still get a kick out of gathering eggs and I especially like the brown ones.
LOL! It would have been priceless if you have taken a photo of their faces when they saw the eggs. I can imagine their surprise. I bet the girls are so cute ?
We’re all having a good time with the chickens. ?
I like this photo ?
Thanks, um… “Frigidaire?”

I really do like the pic. Aren’t the chickens get mad when you stole their eggs?
Not really – when you open the coop up in the morning, they all come running out, so they’re not there to watch you take them.
Mmm, those look good enough to eat! I bet they made a great breakfast… Omelettes, anyone? ?
LOL… I’m thinking eggs benedict on Saturday. ?
Whoa, they really are small. I used to get a weird feeling when eating eggs from our own chickens, took a few to shake it off but when it did, I finally got to enjoy it. I guess that is what I get for having store-bought eggs my whole life.
Mmm, these look delicious! They don’t look that small to me… But did your chickens end up making bigger ones later?
That is so exciting! Small eggs for sure but at lest they are healthier that what you would get at the grocery store.
They are small, are they came from a native chicken?? By the way you made again a great shot which I always love. Keep posting great shots!
I don’t know if they’re native to New Hampshire or not… but they live here now. ?
