Skates

As we switch from winter to summer, a couple of pairs of lady’s skates.

  1. Incredible shot. The mood of the picture is rocking. Its not warm and its not chilling.. I cant find a name for it though :( Feels like a movie shot.

  2. Ryan Cowles @ Metacom Creative Design says:

I have to agree with Ben, this shot definitely gives a strong mood and invokes emotion. Really nice shot. The depth of field plays nicely, soft foreground, skates in focus, and the texture of the concrete wall provides a nice background.

This is a very nice composition James – very balanced, appropriately lit and thoughtfully shot.
    P.S. These are not just any lady’s skates – they’re mine :-)

  4. Ileane @ Ms. Ileane Speaks says:

Very nicely done. I am imagining a very graceful skater, since it seems her skates are unskuffed. ;)

  5. James says:

Follow up post. The skates were my entry to the monthly scavenger hunt for “summertime / wintertime changeover.” Of all the entries submitted (see below), mine won first place… I’m pretty excited!

  6. Vishal @ Witney Accountants says:

It just evokes the words of Albert camus, ‘ In the middle of winter I at last discovered that there was in me an invincible summer’.

  7. Kim Sinton says:

Yeah there is something special about this shot. Hard to say why I like it, but… well I think it’s better not to get to intellectual about these things. Better to just see the picture for a second and decide how much you like it based on pure gut feeling.
