Going to Ocracoke, North Carolina, from New Hampshire, you pack a lot of gear. With four of us in the car and not much room for road munchies, the Panera was a great find.
A little pick-me-up the morning of the Ferry ride.
We met family in NC, then bought a week’s worth of groceries. With the big Volvo, we threw the seats down and packed as much gear as we could fit… and the kids rode with other people.

I miss the coffee. Been reading your blog lately.
Nice pictures.. It would be nice even if you could go a bit nearer to that panera bread building..
That is what i feel.. Rest can disagree with my comment
Hi James, I stumbled on your blog via kristarella.com. I am going to use Kristarella’s Mini skin for my blog. Will you please kind enough to show me — how have you managed to set up thumbnails in archives (while being on your home page, I can see there are archive posts with small thumbnail images below your latest posts). How did you get it? Sorry if you find this is very simple Q but I’m newbie in Thesis theme.
Your any kind of help will really be appreciated! Thank you very much!
James – we went in – no doubt.
Sonia, it involves using the post image feature. Here are the steps I use:
1) Use WP’s “Add an Image” button to upload an image.
2) Copy the URL of the image, but then do not insert the picture into the post.
3) Paste the URL in the field “Post Image”
4) Modify the Thumbnail Size Dimensions to match the image.
Note I do not paste the URL in the “Thumbnail Image” field – that’s because I use the same image for my post image and thumbnail image. There have been times when I have had nothing but a video in the post, and if I remember, I will upload a thumbnail image (and not have a post image).
All of my thumbnails are 164 px wide, so that’s preset in the Thesis Design Options (the Post Images and Thumbnails section), but the height of the thumbnails varies based on the original image dimensions.
There’s a lot of chatter in the Thesis forums about Chris making image management easier… the process is a little convoluted. Chris solved it before WordPress did, but now it seems that the WordPress solution is more elegant than Chris’s is. We’ll see what future versions of the software brings.
Let me know if that needs clarification.
OMG! A big thumb! Thank you so so much for your step-by-step procedures.
It works for me now!
I don’t think I could manage it myself better. Actually, I googled a lot of videos and blog articles for this issue and found some. The DIY forum almost makes me overwhelmed with tons of Q and answers.
But yours steps are far better and easy to understand. Thanks so much James! You’re so kind!

btw, using DIY themes is not easy but it definitely uplift your overall technical skills. And I’m happy to join with DIY themes.
P.S: I’ll let you know once my website is ready.
Awesome – glad it worked for you!
Yes, Thesis can be overwhelming… I really want to completely redo this site, but the time it will take is somewhat daunting. That said, I’m happy with Thesis, and I have several different sites that use it with very different looks.
I look forward to seeing your site when you have it up and running!
I’ve really enjoyed reading about your road trip. Its been one of my dreams to do a “roady” across the USA, its not so easy for me because I live in New Zealand and have a full time job…hopefully someday I’ll be able to do it…

Thanks, Sally. I think this road trip is about as far as I can handle… just getting from New Hampshire to North Carolina is 14 hours (or more – depends on traffic in New York and New Jersey). New Zealand, though… I’d be happy to take that tour!
Road trips are a lot of fun and it looks like you made out like bandits, the ferry must have been fun to ride.
I just love the photo of the teacup! It stirs a storm of images in my head!
A week with four people would be a carload. lol.
How long was the drive?
After we picked up the food, we only had about a twenty minute drive to the Ferry station, so not too bad.
