This sculpture is made from yellow Jasper, some time during the 18th dynasty (Egypt), during the reign of Akhenaten (1353 to 1336 B.C.). It’s on display at the Met in New York, part of a very nice Egyptian collection. Worth the trip.
Halloween 2013
I got to take pictures at my company’s annual Halloween party. A lot of people take at least a half vacation day so they can run home, grab the kids, get them dressed up, and show them off at work. For our part, there’s candy, small gifts, a magician, and other activities. Everyone has a […]
Pollack
Autumn Rhythm, Number 30 (1950), Jackson Pollack No photo ever does a Pollack justice. I’m almost embarrassed to post this. Really – just go to New York and see it for yourself. It’s at The Met.
Stump Jumpin’
A long time ago, I hosted a guest post that explained how to create panoramas in Photoshop. More recently, on a trip to New York City, I saw this guy jumping from lamp to lamp. There were probably 70 or so wrapping around the building, and he made it all the way from one end […]
Bubbles in the Park
This guy was blowing bubbles in Central Park. Some of them were the size of a small car! Look closely in the image above and you’ll see that the one he’s working on is stretched all the way across the photo. Below is a bubble about three feet across. When it hit the ground, […]
Color Me Rad, Boston 2012
Want to know how Color Me Rad works? You’ve come to the right place. First, you must have your race ticket. No ticket? No color. The dress code is casual… but you do need enough fabric to attach your number. That said, most people choose a fresh white outfit for the race. Once out on […]
Squash Blossom (Boys?)
My sister and brother-in-law hired the Squash Blossom Boys to play their wedding (above). Singer Dustin Orbeson plays the mandolin (above) and is seen in black and white below. My uncle said he would never have chosen a blue grass group for a wedding… but it worked (above: Dustin Orbeson, and Kit Murray’s banjo (left side of […]
Spirit Day 2011
It’s Spirit Day (click to learn more), and in support of the LGBT community, many people wore purple shirts. Me, I can’t really wear purple. My skin gets an orange tint around too much purple… so I bought a tie instead. Why do we need to support the LGBT community? Are you Lesbian, Gay, […]
Fair Ride, 2011
About a year ago, I posted a couple pictures of this ride. Today I took photos of the same ride, but after dark. I like how they turned out. These first two images are down by a fog machine, and the last is up high above. Once again, I didn’t ride. ? It’s called the […]
The eye has it
This is an eye someone could get lost in, and never find their way back. I’m mostly happy with the eyelash reflection on the lens. What do you think? [EDIT] In light of the conversation below, here’s the color version. Click for full size.
