Wright Memorial, Kittyhawk, North Carolina

It was a funny day for taking pictures; we were on a road trip, and the stop at Kittyhawk was a last minute addition. One that I would make again in a heartbeat.

I’m not sure what technical innovation has changed the course of human events more in the last 150 years. I’m sure there are some good arguments for alternates… nuclear power, the automobile, and the microprocessor all come to mind. Still - powered flight is my favorite. And sometimes, our decisions are emotional, and that’s okay.

  1. It’s like a Chinese hand-fan: the 1st building…

  2. Well one thing for sure, powered flight made the world smaller. Is it me or is the second image leaning a little to the left? We were in Norfolk, VA on our last shoot and wanted to go to the outer banks, just didn’t have time. I hope to get there soon and photograph some lighthouses. Keep up the good work and happy shooting, Jeff

  3. Good call, Jeff. I rotated it one more degree… all set now.

  4. I wasn’t even aware of this memorial until now. Weird structure, kind of “aztecy”. Cool shots though. Especially the first :)
