Dog Art

I’m sharing this image because it makes me laugh. Not because of the sculpture, which is, admittedly, a bit on the funny side. Not because of the crude fake tile floor, which is tacky at best, either.

I like it because it’s the epitome of a portrait at wide aperture. Nail the focus on the eyes, and let anything closer or further away blur into bokhe.

By doing that, most people won’t even notice the toilet in the background. :)

Great job with the focus! Definitely makes the eyes pop. :)

It’s only a bit unfocused, which is nice, too. I also love the colors together, because they actually match- despite tacky tile and silly dogs.

I realy like this doggie it looks so funny like from cartoon, btw. unfocused back hide some unnecessary things, main thing is well focused, good pic ; )

  5. What aperture was this taken at?

You can’t beat shooting wide open.

  6. Slappy says:

I think that the colour of the floor really makes the dogs stand out, I have to say though that I do like the sculpture ;)

That is too cute. I have seen somethings like that before the coolest was a dragon

  8. You’re right, I didn’t even notice the toilet! In a way, it kind of looks like the dog is trying to scoot his butt up onto the toilet. And I do like the colors together, even if it’s tacky tile :)

  9. Abby @ LAX Car Service says:

In a way, it’s kind of “Old Western” or Adobe feeling. I would have never thought it was a bathroom. Is this your toilet paper holder or something? :)

With just a little polish with the dog sculpture… It’ll be a good display for the house. :)

Yes, this picture is very funny indeed. It is a unconventional creation of a dog and this is the thing that makes it so cool.

Yep, didn’t notice the toilet until you pointed it out. Great use of wide aperture. The colours do go together. I like it.

I also like the sculpture because it is cute.

  17. Awesome. It looks so cool… I love the popping eyes… hahaha

  18. I did notice the eyes and didn’t see the toilet until you mentioned it. By the way, you have rust. You should flip the dog around so he can be staring at you while using the toilet. Haha..I think I would get nervous.

  19. I guess as a photographer, you’re trained to notice all of your surroundings. I definitely didn’t notice the fake tile nor the toilet. However it did make for a funny picture. I think the dog sculpture itself is pretty funny in that it’s playful. Most dog sculptures look so stiff and boring. Dogs are fun and that is something that should be captured in a sculpture or photo.

Haha you were totally right, I didn’t even notice the toilet back there! I really like this style of shot too, the one thing in focus stands out so much and the bohke provides a wonderful backdrop
