Claire found a lovely but expensive frighteningly expensive garden shop last weekend. While she talked urns with the owners, I wandered around and took a couple photos. This tree sculpture, which seems more suited for inside than outside, cast a lovely shadow, and I thought it looked interesting enough to share.
But not buy. 
This looks like something similar my dad has in his house in the reading room. With a skylight, it casts similar shadows (and all over) which gives it a fun effect during the day! Who needs a garden when you have sculptures that are just as pleasing?
It would have been a haunting image if there was no background lighting. I love the way in which the shadow stretches to one side and expands. Good work. Thanks for sharing.
This tree is nice but also i wouldn’t buy it, maybe if it would be realy cheap than i would consider it ; )

The like the picture: the shadow definitely adds to it, and the sculpture itself has a slight Tim Burton edge to it – or maybe that’s just me. I have seen a similar sculpture locally here in Australia, only it was made from rusted metal which was very effective. Nice work!

I think the shadows make the photo more interesting. I guess the “frightening” could apply to the look of the eeriness (but cool) and the price. Now I’m curious how much it was…
This is exactly what my daughter wants her dad to make for her room. She’s going for a garden-like theme. We’ve already bought those flying birds wall decor from Target, and my husband made some flower designs himself. He’s so handy. This picture will come in handy in trying to explain what she wanted. I think this would look better inside, than out because of the shadows that it casts. You wouldn’t be able to see the effect of the branches and would have paid too much for it to just sit on the grass or porch. I would love something like this in my livingroom. Did you happen to get the name of the artist or name of the sculpture?

I love how you have captured exact same shadow that is showing. It’s kinda creepy but really beautiful as well. Maybe if the color of the sculpture will be different like pastel colors, it may not be creepy anymore 
Not having any leaves, it seems to have a winter motif to it. Like it could be a Christmas decoration/prop…

I love the picture and nice capture though. I hope i could picture something like this too… It’s kinda creepy maybe because the color is black and it’s only pure branches… but i still like it. I can still see the art in it. The shadow is good for me. It’s a good shot! Hope i can see more of your photographs so that i can be inspired to do something like that too. Nice post!

There’s something so awesomely creepy about the shadow affect! All this tree is missing is a couple of crows flying around!
Cool image – a little spooky though, reminds me of that scene from Poltergeist when the tree grabs the boy from his room….eek!

I wish I could find one of these! My boyfriend and I want to paint a textured tree in one of the rooms of our house… this would’ve been great to trace for it. Our free-hand attempts have been quite pathetic! Interesting subject matter though, I get really great ideas from yours!

I agree with you. Picture worthy but not worthy to buy… also think that it would be better as an indoor piece.
