Sinew and Wood

Typically when I take a photo at a museum, I’ll also take a shot of the placard describing the exhibit. Not so for this ten-stringed instrument… but I love the intricate woodwork, so I decided to share it anyways.

The Face of a Queen

This sculpture is made from yellow Jasper, some time during the 18th dynasty (Egypt), during the reign of Akhenaten (1353 to 1336 B.C.). It’s on display at the Met in New York, part of a very nice Egyptian collection. Worth the trip.

Pollack

Autumn Rhythm, Number 30 (1950), Jackson Pollack No photo ever does a Pollack justice. I’m almost embarrassed to post this. Really – just go to New York and see it for yourself. It’s at The Met.

Street View

A little on the abstract side, this net of colorful shapes was found over a street in down-town Boston.

Jester

This jester sculpture is actually part of a lamp – it resides at a relative’s home, and I see it once every couple of years or so. Last time when I tried to photograph it, I didn’t have as nice of a camera, and in the soft light, the image turned out blurry because I couldn’t hold the camera still enough. This time, I’m much happier with the results.

Sculptures at the Louvre
