Nice geometric shapes and colours, i like how they change, simplest things may look realy interesting if you now how to catch it, great work!

I love Shel Silverstein. Especially the giving tree. I miss those books. you have now made me want to buy the set. The missing piece, the whole lot!

Any of his books are a fantastic buy. You know what would be a cool photo entry? Photos replicating all his book titles. Except, I’m not sure how you would manage the “Where the Sidewalk Ends” shot.
That would be a cool contest and I could think a few ways of how to take a shot of where the sidewalk ends.

And Ava, what a great idea for a photo series… I can think of a couple of Where the Sidewalk Ends picture possibilities, and wouldn’t the whole series, shot by different people with all sorts of different ideas, be fun! A Silverstein scavenger hunt. I want to see entries for Falling Up…

“Where the Sidewalk Ends” (by the same author) was one of my favorite books in elementary school. And the funny thing is, I don’t specifically remember reading this particular book. But I believe that I did, having liked his other book…Is this the book with the girl that “would not take the garbage out”?

It would be even better if there were shots from certain poems. That way, you could have your own Light in the Attic book, but just in pictures!
I miss the days of leisure and reading Eric Carl, Shel Silverstein and Dr. Suess. Eric Carl would actually be another good one to photograph and compare to the images he had in his books, don’t you think?

having hi-jacked James’ photo title on Shel Silverstein, I think all the photo series ideas are great… and have a long lost photo to offer from when a couple of my kids were 7 & 1: don’t remember the poem exactly but it went something like this: “sister for sale, sister for sale, one crying and whining young sister for sale. who will buy? sister for sale.”

Silverstein has been a favorite of mine ever since “The Giving Tree”. That picture is great to to promote the book, but I I prefer the real cover ? I love reading poems to start off my day because they really set the mood for me. Thanks for sharing!

Yes, my attic. I mentioned the book because the image reminded me of the title.

Wow! I’d actually be really interested to see photos replicating all his book titles, as Ava from Title Loans suggested! I think it would be really cool to see how you would photograph them. I think you should go for it!
Cool photo. My husband is in the middle of redoing our attic because it got a leak from a recent windstorm and rain that happened. Doesn’t look as cool as this picture here, but hopefully it will.
Can’t believe I didn’t see this before, glad you linked it with your most recent photo! I *love* Shel Silverstein, he was my favorite poet growing up and I still enjoy reading his books with my young niece and nephew today.
I loved that book when I was younger. Great capture of lines and repetition.
To be honest I was never a huge Shel Silverstein fan. Anything I read I liked, but I never owned any of the books. I read a lot of novels but have never been a big fan of poetry, (except for Shakespeare’s sonnets), but I am trying to expose myself to it more. If you recommend it I will definitely check it out!
