This image is available for sale on Getty Images.

This image got a lot of buzz on Flickr when I posted it, which was fun. It’s been viewed over 1,200 times as of this writing, which for me, is a lot. Before this, I think my most viewed photo was a throw-away shot of some red Tretorn boots, which I don’t really care for, but has been used on more blogs than I can keep track of.

This is a gray tree frog, or hyla versicolor. Beautiful yellow on the inside of its legs (you can just see a bit on its left back leg in this photo). Lovely fingers – made for climbing, not swimming. When I moved my hand around it would simply climb back to where it was perching instead of hanging beneath my finger. It was quite the mellow frog. Maybe most fun was being able to feel each of its finger tips as it gripped me. I released it next to a birch tree where it completely disappeared without moving. Lovely camouflage, even its eyes blend in to its surroundings. I’ve never seen one before, but this one had wandered onto a blue tarp, making it very easy for Claire to spot.

As always, click to enlarge. Here in New England, everything is gray and grimy. It’s late February, the ugly side of winter.

(Click the photo to enlarge)

This photo really needs to be bigger to appreciate it. I’m happy with how it turned out. I took it while traveling, visiting my parents in New Mexico. I spent my high school years in a room that received evening shade from that tree. This night in particular it looked beautiful, and I really enjoyed the way the light of the porch light up the branches.

This pic is a few weeks old; the tree’s blossoms have filled out, leaves are now covering it.

I’ve been posting a lot of “older” photos the last week. I have a new computer, and am still in the process of moving everything over, including my photo editing software and photos. I have a 1 TB hard drive now, so plenty of space. For a while, at least.

I hope to start moving pictures later today, and get Lightroom installed in the next day or so.

On Blueberry Road (in Raymond, NH), a pine tree over 60 feet tall went in the back yard. It could have been catastrophic. A tree that large ways several tons, and it would have pushed through the house like a knife through butter.

I took this photo while it was snowing (thus the white blur).

Last night southern New Hampshire got clobbered by over an inch of rain and wind gusts of up to 60 mph. We don’t have power or Internet. The roads all pretty much look like this. This morning, in a failed attempt to get to work I went out with my chainsaw and cleared some of the carnage.

When I got to the Exiter River, I gave up and went home. The river hasn’t just jumped its banks, it’s over to bridge, too. Must be what the weather service was talking about when it said to keep humans and livestock away from all moving water due to the potential “immenent loss of life.”

Now there’s no electricity or Internet, but I have cell phone service.

So now I’m blogging from my cell phone. Ain’t technology cool?
