Pumpkins Bounce

What’s more fun than carving nine jack-o-lanterns with power tools? Throwing them out the window after Halloween!

I already shared these images on Flickr and Facebook, but we had so much fun defenestrating our pumpkins this year, I couldn’t resist a quick post here on the blog. When I look at these pictures, it really makes me want to build a catapult before next October.

  1. Haha! Now that looks funny 😀 Also nice that you manage to get a photo just as it collapses.

  2. Hah. Unexpectedly funny.

  3. This reminds me of some of the old David Letterman skits where he’d drop something like a watermelon off the top of the building and then photograph it. Well done.

  4. TJ McDowell says:

Sweet! What settings did you have your camera set on? Was it the speedlight that stopped the motion in the 2nd pic?

    • I actually do not own a strobe… It’s so high on my list of things to own, but I admit, I was waiting for Nikon’s next generation (the SB-600 was rumored for replacement for a while now). Now that the SB-700 is out, I will probably buy it.

So… what you have here is the headlights of my car supplying the lighting. Xenon head lamps at 4:20 p.m.

  5. Cool Photos! How many did you smash before you got the perfect photo?

  6. Nice Pics. These all are looking so funny.

  7. Nice catch! haha I definitely would like to see the other ‘fail’ pictures 😀

  8. Yvone Sherwood says:

Smashing pumpkins is truly cool and fun thing to do. It is good for releasing negative emotions and anger. Can I have one? 🙂 hahaha! Well done James!

  9. I would not have been able to have done this. My son would have been very upset. He is only 4, and he gave our Jack o Lanterns personalities.
