  1. # 1 fan says:

    poor unsuspecting innocent gnome.
I took the bait and clicked on Conlon’s site…. when you get rich, you should buy your dad a turtle (not ๐Ÿ™‚ !
Looks like Conlon has as much fun with his sculptures as you do with your camera.

  2. When I first seen this I laughed histerically. I made me think of the traveling gnome for that hotel company and It drives me nuts. So go gettum little creatures.

  3. Thanks!

I didn’t know it when I posted this, but it ended up getting third place in the scavenger hunt. Yay!

    Here’s the competition:

  4. Cowvin says:

LOL! I think the next picture is gonna be how the gnome is being om-nomed by the creatures! I unfortunately, love these gnomes. I bought a bunch of em yesterday at a garage sale for my lawn..any of you guys know where I can buy the nasty red monsters?

  5. Nice! photo, keep on editing. Conlon keep up the good work. I love your artistic mind.

  6. Ryan Cowles says:

Haha! I don’t think you can go wrong with these little creatures! How did you get the one suspended in air for the shot?

  7. Ryan, how can I give up my secrets so easily? ๐Ÿ™‚

The sculpture has a hook welded into its head, and he hangs from a chain. I applied a clone to replace the chain with trees.

I’d like to start using Photo Shop… but don’t have that in the budget just yet, so I use Picnik premium.

    • Ryan Cowles says:

Haha, I had to ask. I haven’t actually used it a whole lot, but I’ve heard great things about GIMP. I believe it’s very similar to Photoshop, and can even open up and edit PSD files. Best of all? It’s free!

  8. Calissa Leigh says:

This one is hilarious. ๐Ÿ™‚ Where’d you get the red creatures? Awesome camera work!

  9. Utterly Amazing! Are those red beings made of rusted iron? They look quite cool. You have captured the creature in air amazingly well.

  10. Yes, they are made from steel. The eyes are nuts, the feet screws. Not sure what he makes the bodies from, but the limbs are otherwise made of thick wire.

Claire got ours at a street art fair where she met Fred Conlon (the artist), but you can find them at the link in the original post.
