That is simply a stunning picture! I don’t understand lighting and lens and whatnot, but I know a pretty shot when I see one, and that is a pretty shot! You have really been getting some good winter shots lately. Your re-chargeable batteries must be getting a workout!
Heh… thanks, a lot (and thanks for the tweet, too).
This shot was actually taken with my iPhone… some of my favorite photos have come from that thing.
Having said that, yeah, I had to get an extra battery for my camera. There’s nothing worse than running out of juice in the field.
In my part of the world, seeing or hearing about winter reminds me first thing of Christmas. Can’t help but get transported 3 months back in time on seeing this image. And I agree with greenlants about this being stunning; but then I think every pic I’ve seen here so far are all stunning. Well, some are stunning, some are extra stunning.

I am a painter by profession & I think that this is a classic piece. It is usually not that easy to capture something like this.you have to be in the right place at the right time.I am sure it brings back a lot of good memories.
