The blue jays don’t normally come out of the forest, but on this Sunday morning, they decided the hydrangea bush near the deck was the place to be.

    Now that’s a great shot! I love blue-jays, and have since I was little (well those and cardinals, which are as red as those blue jays are blue). I’ve always liked blue jays because they were SO blue, and the cardinals for the same reason. Again great shot :D

    Hey, I can see that the focal length specified by you is 125mm. What lens do you use with the d90, The image quality is pretty good and the background blur is also very fine.

    greenlants – We were quite taken by their coloring as well. We have some cardinals in the woods just north of the house, too, but they don’t come out that often. When I hear them singing, I do attempt to get out there and capture them. So far, no luck.

    Alan – I shot this one with a 70-300mm lens. I was pretty close to the birds; less than ten feet away. Here’s the full EXIF data.
