Finger plus nail gun = infection

Day eight: Yesterday I was nailing together a bat house Dad and I started during his visit last weekend. I reloaded a finishing nailer with smaller nails, but didn’t notice there were a couple of long nails stuck in the gun, one of which went into my left index finger. It’s now bigger than my thumb and I can barely move it. Doc says it’s infected. After seeing a regular doc and an orthopedic specialist, I have an appointment with a hand surgeon tomorrow morning.

Claire calls it SF. That means “sausage finger.”

  1. Oh that’s so dangerous be careful that you do not get tetanus from the nail. It’s a good thing you went to the doctor. I remember when I was younger one of my friends got tetanus and it was horrible. Though I read somewhere it’s rare you get it from a nail. Who know it’s better to be safe than sorry. I hope your finger get better!

    P.S. Great blog btw!

  2. Ouch, hope you got well. I guess anti-tetanus was doctor’s solution right?
